On Earth Peace Spring Board Meeting
The April 5-7, 2018 On Earth Peace spring board meeting coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Some OEP board and staff members arrived in Chicago on April 4, to attend the King commemoration service held at the Chicago First Church of the Brethren. Dr. King had an office in this Brethren church during his leadership of the 1966-67 Chicago Freedom Movement. Other board and staff members attended the “Songs of the Chicago Freedom Movement” concert sponsored by OEP’s partner, the Addie Wyatt Center for Nonviolence Training.

In the weeks following the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, students across the nation have been organizing around gun violence and gun control.
These organizing efforts have resulted in two major movements: #NeverAgain and the #MarchForOurLives. Both movements are organized by student survivors of the Parkland shooting and both serve to enact action that would encourage legislators to make sure no more lives are lost due to lack of gun control in the United States.
