This past month of May we have read two stories:

Summary: This book was read as the second in our Read Aloud in a Foreign Language series. The book was read in both English and Punjabi. This book tells the story of young immigrant coming to Ohio, USA from Punjab, India. It tells the story of Simran’s struggle to fit in with her peers as she notices her differences and follows Simran as she learns to be proud of her differences and shares her culture with her classmates. Join Simran as she grows through a challenging adventure and learns how to shine in her own identity!
Reflective statement: learn one new thing about someone who is different from you today.
Sophia the Little Researcher: A Virus Tale by Alia AbuKiwan

Summary: In this story Sophia, the little researcher, takes us into a journey of learning and exploration. She does her research to find out how and why people get sick. She learns about viruses, bacteria, and how they can cause illness.
Reflective question: What are some ways we can prevent the spread of a virus? What are some differences between bacteria and viruses?
