We are getting reports from congregations that participated in the International Day of Prayer for Peace -- here are a few! Please post your own pictures and stories from Peace Day 2018, directly in the OEP-PeaceDay group in Facebook- or send them to Matt Guynn at [email protected]
Elaine Gibbel from Lititz Church of the Brethren in Pennsylvania writes, “Forty-three persons participated in the short service of songs, story, and prayers for peace on Sunday evening, September 16, 2018. On that day, we had continual prayer for peace from 6 am to 8 pm by persons signing up for half-hour time slots and either praying in the chapel, at home, or wherever they could. Part of the morning worship was a special prayer for peace by Lisa Krieg and the choir anthem was “Prayer for Peace.” In Sunday School, the preschool and elementary children, with Children’s Director and teachers, drew peace pictures and quotes, their names, and peace symbols with chalk on the sidewalks and parking lot. It was a good day of intense prayer for us. Thanks to you and On Earth Peace for organizing.”
Scott Duffey from Staunton Church of the Brethren writes, “[We] dedicated our new peace pole at Staunton Church of the Brethren today in the misty rain. 'May Peace Prevail On Earth.'”
Peace Mindset Ambassadors hosted “The Right to Peace,” an event for young adult peacemakers, at the University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
We’d love to add some more stories of you prayers for peace to our catalog from 2018. Please post your pictures and stories directly in the OEP-Facebook group.
