February 3 Highlights

Here are the happenings of OEP and its greater community from January 20th to February 3rd:

  • Rose, one of OEP’s new supporters, sent us an amazing list of black business owners that we would love to share with the larger OEP community. You can find the list here!
  • The 2021 Economic Value of Peace Annual Report from the Vision of Humanity and the Institute of Economics & Peace has been released. You can download it for free here.
  • On Earth Peace welcomes new interns: Alli Kuni as Dunker Punks Podcast Communications Manager and Clara McGilly as Kingian Nonviolence Organizer.
  • Sari Stissi completed her internship as Database Manager & Webmaster.
  • Skylar Rella, Gender Justice Organizer, and Emma Gaydos, LGBTQ Justice Organizer, led a two-part webinar on Gender Identity and Media Representation.
  • Jessia Avila, Migrant Justice Organizer, and Kathryn LaPointe, director of the Oasis Center, led a webinar on Community Responses to Asylum Issues.
  • Community Engagement Youth Grant Recipients from Findlay, Ohio, attended an OEP introduction webinar in Kingian Nonviolence.
  • On Earth Peace's Learning Action Community Organizers met on January 27 for its first monthly meeting to build relationships with each other and reflect on the craft of organizing.
  • The Kingian Nonviolence Coordinating Committee, an informal network of Kingian trainers and organizers, met to discuss curriculum and training projects for 2021.  Pludirector Bill Scheurer, participated online in the annual meeting of the InterAgency Forum with the Council of District Executives for the Church of the Brethren.
