Intern Spotlight: Simi Gill

Simi Gill serves as OEP's Children's Peace Formation Organizer. Simi has recently finished her master's degree in Applied Theatre at Goldsmiths, University of London. She has an extensive background in child development, drama, and theater. She reflects on On Earth Peace's impact on her life during her internship.

Why are you drawn/applied to On Earth Peace?

I applied for OEP because I wanted to develop my skills/knowledge and experience working with young children and people. As well as developing my interests and passions for social justice work.

What are the favorite project/s that you worked on?

My favorite project I worked on was On Earth Performers drama club. At first, a challenge to bring my theatre knowledge and skills to the online space, however over time the sessions became lots of fun and an absolute pleasure to work with the children and young people. I am immensely proud of all of their achievements and growth in confidence to perform their own stories during the showcase.

How has OEP affected your outlook/future aspirations?

OEP has developed my outlook on what I can achieve as well as the power of community in my own and collective goals for good.

What would you like people to know about OEP and yourself?

That OEP is a place for everyone regardless of your background, experience and especially religion. It is a space where community and support is strong and nurtured.
