Join us for a two-day core training in Kingian Nonviolence which provides participants with a foundation in Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation on Friday & Saturday, March 6-7 at the Wichita First Church of the Brethren (1103 N. Jefferson). Due to weather, this event has been postponed to March 6-7.
The two-day core is a transformational experience that has helped thousands of individuals around the world understand the depth of nonviolence as a philosophy and practice of change, and how to incorporate this practice into their lives and work. This is an amazing opportunity for activists, community leaders, educators, clergy and others to receive training in Kingian Nonviolence in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This type of training is integral to activism in today's society.
The training will begin each day at 8 am and end by 6 pm at the latest, with lunch and snacks provided.
A $50 suggested donation is being asked to help offset facilitator costs ($25/day), but is not required.
There is limited space and the deadline to register is Friday, February 27. CEUs will be offered.

According to political scientist Erica Chenoweth, nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts - and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. not only provided spiritual leadership, but also laid out a practical roadmap for how nonviolent leaders and powerful campaigns can bring about bring about social and political change.
Using advance readings, the two-day core will explore the topics below through mini-lectures, discussions, small groups, and multi-media presentations:

An analysis of the different types and levels of conflict, and how they escalate and deescalate

The history of the Civil Rights Movement and some of Dr. King’s philosophies

The principles of Kingian Nonviolence: How to view and transform conflict

The steps of Kingian Nonviolence: How to engage with conflict and organize a campaign

Essential perspectives for organizing and mobilizing your group or community for positive change

Collective exploration of several efforts for nonviolent social change through the lens of Kingian nonviolence, to understand its contribution.

Preliminary practice in applying Kingian principles and steps to your group, community, or concern, to envision what Kingian nonviolence might contribute to your context.
This event is made possible by the Brethren Faith in Action Grant and the Western Plains District Jesus in the Neighborhood Fund (both through the Church of the Brethren).
Whether you are an organizer working for social change, a teacher trying to change the culture of your school or simply an individual trying to reconcile conflicts in your personal life, you will return to your organization, workplace, community, or home with new conflict reconciliation skills.
