In this issue, we welcome Sydney Goldsborough as a new addition to On Earth Peace's permanent staff. We wish her the very best in her new role as Director of Administration and Communication.
Sydney Goldsborough joined On Earth Peace in 2023 as the Social Media Intern. In 2024, she transitioned to the role of Communications Fellow, and throughout 2025, she served as a Communications Coordinator under contract. Sydney has now accepted a full-time position as OEP's Director of Administration and Communications. We recently spoke with her to learn more about her journey and her vision for this new role.
1. Please briefly tell us about your new role and what you are most looking forward to in this permanent position.
I will be serving as the Director of Administration and Communication, where I will be overseeing administrative and human resources efforts as well as our strategic communications and marketing collateral. I’m looking forward to engaging more with our constituency and supporting On Earth Peace’s continued success as we pursue our mission and vision to be advocates, community-builders and changemakers for justice and peace.
2. Are there any specific goals you would like to achieve in this new role?
My primary goal in Administration is to strengthen and standardize our procedures and protocols to ensure that all staff, board members, interns, facilitators, and volunteers are equipped with the skills, tools, and resources necessary to succeed in their roles. As we face a time that is truly calling on our vision of Beloved Community and liberation to succeed, establishing a strong and sturdy foundation is essential.
I aim to improve our strategic communications to be encouraging and engaging across all platforms and interactions, virtually and in-person. Firstly, I believe it is crucial for our communications to convey a sense of belonging, so everyone who connects with us through trainings, events, and other collaborative efforts feels welcomed, their voices heard and empowered to make transformative change within their communities.
3. You’ve been with OEP in different capacities for a while now. Can you share your journey with us, from intern to permanent staff?
I started my journey at OEP as the social media intern in 2023, where I focused on revitalizing our content and visual strategy on our social media platforms (Don’t forget to follow & like our Facebook and Instagram!) In 2024, I transitioned into the role of Communications Fellow and have since continued as a contractor, providing support for communications in 2025.
Throughout these two positions, I have contributed to rebranding initiatives (including our website overhaul), oversaw fundraising campaigns efforts (such as the branding for A Future with Hope, 50th Anniversary and the 3000 Miles for Peace), designed editorial layout for Agape Magazine, and enhanced our internal team communications.
4. What originally drew you to the mission of On Earth Peace, and how has your understanding of that mission deepened over the years?
I was drawn to On Earth Peace as a community that encourages and challenges me to step outside of my comfort zone. I’ve always been passionate about social justice and advocacy, but I struggled to find a space where I could integrate activism with marketing and communications. I found this home at On Earth Peace.
Throughout my time here, I have come to understand that one can embody justice and peace through small, meaningful actions every day. The wise words of Angela Davis guide me, “you have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world and you have to do it all the time.” No matter the challenges we face, it is important that we keep sowing the seeds of change and hope, ultimately inspiring and motivating others to foster Beloved Community.
A special thank you to:
Matt, Marie, Andrew, and team, for your unwavering support during my time at OEP and for instilling in me the confidence to step into this new role.
Our community and constituency, for your support has opened up numerous avenues for growth and opportunity at On Earth Peace for interns like me that I once thought were unimaginable. I am forever grateful.
Please help us welcome Sydney to the team! We are very happy to have her.
