Harnessing Our Power to End Political Violence (HOPE-PV)

Responding to Political Violence with Strategy, Solidarity, and Nonviolence

Equipping communities with tools, training, and strategy to respond to violence in a way that builds nonviolent power.

On Earth Peace is proud to be part of the HOPE-PV (Harnessing Our Power to End Political Violence) network, an initiative equipping communities with practical tools to respond to rising political violence and repression.

Grounded in research and movement practice, HOPE-PV counters common tactics used by those who incite, enable, and enact violence by making them backfire. In the face of attempts to cover up harm, dehumanize targets, silence dissent, and divide us, we organize collective action that exposes injustice and builds public support for nonviolent responses.

What We Offer

Through dedicated funding, On Earth Peace is currently able to provide training, coaching, and strategic support to groups responding to political violence and related challenges.

Our support is designed to meet communities where they are. It includes:

  • An accompaniment model
  • Interactive Workshops and Consultation Sessions (virtual and in-person)
  • Ongoing Coaching & Mentorship

Available resources include:

  • Strategic Planning Support for campaigns and community response
  • Capacity-Building Tools to strengthen strategy, leadership and coordination

We also incorporate elements of Kingian Nonviolence, offering accessible, focused modules such as

  • Social Dynamics of Nonviolence
  • 6 Principles of Nonviolence
  • 6 Steps of a Nonviolence Initiative
  • Framing an Issue

These offerings are intentionally flexible, ranging from brief learning sessions to deeper engagement over time. Travel support may be available for in-person collaboration.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking groups (not just single individuals) who are actively working to respond to the current political moment.

Are you trying to protect people under attack or threatened in your community?

Are you developing a campaign?

Do you fall under any of these categories? This invitation is for you if:

  • Your community is directly impacted by or threatened with violence
  • You are working in solidarity with targeted groups
  • You are leading community change or justice campaigns
  • You are part of marginalized communities
  • You are newer to organizing or have limited access to training resources

We believe that those closest to the challenges should be supported in leading the solutions.

Why This Work Matters Now

In times of uncertainty and rising harm, it can be difficult to know how to support your community, your neighbors, and yourself. Yet this moment calls for:

  • The cultivation of beloved community
  • Nonviolent direct action
  • Collective courage and solidarity

By using backfire strategies, we can increase accountability for those who perpetrate violence while strengthening unity and public support for justice.

Together, we can take meaningful action that resists harm and builds a more just and peaceful world.

Stay Connected & Get Involved

We regularly share opportunities for:

  • Trainings and workshops
  • Collaborative learning, including networking across participating communities
  • Resources for nonviolent action and organizing

Whether you are just beginning or already engaged in this work, we are here to support you.

You are not alone in this work, and together, we can harness our power for change.
