Gun Violence Campaign Dec Meeting

>> Add this event to your Google Calendar

Join us on December 16, 2022 for an Organizing Meeting with On Earth Peace’s gun violence organizing campaign. We want to connect with people in churches and neighbourhoods who are concerned about gun violence in our country - who are already taking some action or who want to get involved. Come share your story or your hopes for involvement!

This initiative aims to move our constituency into action to reduce gun violence in the United States. If you have been active, we want to hear your stories so others can learn from your experience; if you are recently fired up, we want to offer the community a place to connect. We want to build capacity and commitment and see the way forward for all of us.

You can expect to:

  • hear updates from OEP organizing interns about current action on gun violence
  • reflect on your (possible) role in the movement
  • connect with others who are concerned or involved
  • get some energy and power for the work ahead
  • identify immediate next steps in your own action against gun violence

At 2:30 Eastern, thirty minutes before the full meetup, we extend a special invitation to members and friends of the Church of the Brethren to join a pre-meetup chat about how we might work together to do something about gun violence specifically as Brethren. How could we stimulate our beloved denomination to take a strong public stance or develop more local initiatives on gun violence? The 30-minute "chat" will be convened by Matt Guynn, OEP's director of organizing, and Mandy Park, a member of OEP's Gun Violence Organizing Campaign who is involved with Moms Demand Action. Mandy is a member of Brownsville CoB, Knoxville, MD.

On Earth Peace is a Kingian Nonviolence organization. Our vision is a world in Beloved Community, liberated from oppression, violence, and war. An agency of the Church of the Brethren, a historic peace church, On Earth Peace works with both faith-based individuals and communities and people and groups with no specific faith affiliation who are interested in applying the legacy of nonviolence to solve problems today.
