Agape: A Peacemaking Guide for Kids is a magazine crafted for children in our constituency age 8-12 who are eager to learn more about peacemaking.
Please share this with any and all peacemakers in your community – no matter their age.
We've also developed mini magazines that are printable and can be easily enjoyed wherever you go: Using Your Voice, Resolve Conflict, and Finding Hope.
December 2025, Issue 07: Finding Hope
When there are a lot of big and scary things happening in the world around us, one thing I like to practice is looking for hope. I name the beautiful things around me, I practice taking deep breathes, or I listen to my favorite song. I find hope in the people around me who are working to build a better world. I even find hope when I think about everyone who is inspired by these magazines that we create!
As we enter the time of year where we think about everything that has happened and dream about what we want the world to look like in the coming years, may we all hold onto the things that bring us hope!
October 2025, Issue 06: Tough Topics: What to Do About Guns
The world can be a scary place. You might hear in school, or in conversations with adults, about what can happen when people choose to use guns to hurt one another.
For me, the stories of death and violence make me really sad and afraid. I don’t like it when people are hurting, and I don’t like it when people hurt others. Sometimes this sadness makes me want to curl up in a ball or cry, but other times it makes me want to do something. I often have a lot of questions about why and how and what can be done.
In this issue, we are going to talk about gun violence. You may want to read this magazine with an adult. This is a tough topic, but it is important that we talk about it so we can help fix the problem. If you ever feel scared or unsafe, please tell an adult you trust. It is extra important that we take care of each other when the world feels heavy.
July 2025, Issue 05/Love In Action
When I was thinking about this issue of Agape, I realized that it was important for us to spend time thinking about what Agape Love means!
Agape is an unconditional type of love – a love that is shown through serving others and showing care. It requires action and is a way to include all the people of the world that they are a part of one big family.
The theme of this issue, “Agape Love in Action” is about exactly that! I hope that when you finish reading this magazine, you will have new ideas about how you might show Agape Love in your own communities.
May 2025, Issue 04/Neighbors
Sometimes I feel scared and sad when I think about all of the ways people are hurting in our world. While it is easy to feel stuck in these big feelings, I’ve found it is important to focus on the people around me who I can help!
One way to think about who we can best help is to think about our neighbors – the people who are close to us, whether they live next door or sit beside us in class. By choosing to be kind and care for our neighbors, we can make the world a little better!
You, my friends, have the power to make a difference! I hope the stories in this magazine teach you new ways to notice your neighbors so that you might better show up for them. Together, we can build a better world!
50th Anniversary Editions
May 2024, Issue 01/Resisting War
"War is so big and happens in so many places.
Simply put, war hurts people like you and me and separates families like yours and mine. It takes away important resources like having enough food, clean water, or a safe shelter. It also robs people of valuable opportunities like going to school, seeing/making friends, and playing outside. It can be hard to know how to respond and what can be done to stop war.
As long as there has been war, there have been people who resist war, who fight against the idea that violence is needed to solve conflicts, and who work to stop the things that lead to war."
– Excerpt from “What is War, and How do we Resist it?” by Marie Rhoades
October 2024, Issue 02/Making Peace
"Today, we’re going to learn together about what making peace looks like in our lives.
Sometimes, relationships and friendships can be really hard, especially in moments of conflict.
But what we want you to remember is that you are strong, brave, and capable. Sometimes, facing conflict is scary, intimidating, sad, and can make you really nervous or worried. But, remember that it’s hard because it’s important and the right thing to do.
We wrote this issue to give you the tools and knowledge you need to help make these situations easier.
You’ll learn what consent and boundaries are and how to practice them, what beloved community is, what conflict is, and some ideas on how to navigate them.
We hope that you can use these tools to become a peacemaker in your life!"

January 2025, Issue 03/Pursuing Justice
"Today, we’re going to explore how we can pursue justice in our communities!
First, I want you to know that you don’t need to do big things that change the world or be an adult to pursue justice. You all, as kids, have a super power to move people towards change that adults don’t have!
That’s why at On Earth Peace, we wanted to give you a toolbox and a resource to help you in your peacemaking journey.
Sometimes, pursuing justice can be scary when you don’t know where or how to start. But in these moments, use this magazine as a tool to learn how to stand up to microaggressions, create safe spaces, acknowledge your privilege, move through fear with love, apologize, and more.
Keep being curious about the world and ask “why?” Keep learning and growing in your peacemaking journey.
We believe in you! You got this."
