Hello everyone! My name is Annabell, and I am the new Kingian Nonviolence Fellow for On Earth Peace! I want to take a moment and talk to you about the importance of Kingian Nonviolence (KNV), and the impact it has had on me personally.
Before my time as the KNV fellow, I was the Palestine Justice organizing intern, where I was first introduced to KNV. While I learned many valuable skills and lessons during my time as an intern with OEP, learning about Kingian Nonviolence was one of the highlights. It gave me a new way to organize work, and it helped shape the work I did. For me, the principles and practices of KNV offered a perfect guide on how to manage my work. I moved my work from education to more direct action, which included having OEP officially endorse bill HR 2590. Besides my work with OEP, KNV also provided me with a way to handle conflict in my personal life and practices to be more understanding. Nonviolence work is vital to me, and my time as a fellow with OEP will allow me to expand on my nonviolence work and help others come into theirs. It is important to remember that nonviolence is a way of life, and it takes real commitment to see nonviolence all the way through.I am excited to work with OEP as the KNV fellow, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
