The Conscientious Objection Brainstorming Session is a virtual, idea-gathering event hosted by OEP. This gathering is designed to engage with engage community members, OEP constituents, and anyone who is a conscientious objector or is interested in the idea of such to bond, share, and dream about what conscientious objection can look like today.

As the Church of the Brethren continuously wrestles with its relationship to violence and war in the world, we want to invite you to join us in dreaming about what it means to be a conscientious objector today! This year, On Earth Peace will begin its resourcing and organizing around conscientious objection, but we need your help! What does being a conscientious objector mean to you? How can we engage in bringing more people into being conscientious objectors? How can we do this together?

In this brainstorming session, we will discuss together what resourcing would benefit the Church of the Brethren, share ideas about what conscientious objection can look like today, and ask questions about what being conscientious objectors calls us to do. Anyone can come, whether you helped plant trees during the Vietnam War, led counter-recruitment actions at your high school during the Afghanistan War, have never had the need to resist militarization, and everyone in-between!
