The Kingian Nonviolence Book Club on Tuesday, October 28 at 6 PM EST is a discussion-based community series rooted in the principles and practices of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy of nonviolence. Rather than a formal course, this is an open forum for learning, reflection, and connection. Sessions will be monthly, facilitator-led, and theme-based — offering space to explore Kingian Nonviolence through books, articles, videos, and conversations that bring history into dialogue with the present.

This club is for anyone curious about nonviolence as a method for social change. Readings are encouraged but never required. Come as you are — even if you haven’t read the materials — and be part of thoughtful, spirited conversations that connect past and present struggles for justice.
Participants are welcome to join any session throughout the year. We aim to cultivate a reflective, welcoming community of learners, activists, pastors, and neighbors engaging with Kingian Nonviolence in our everyday lives.
This book club session's theme is "The Power of Youth and Moral Imagination" and will be facilitated by TBD.
Here are the readings we will be discussing for October. Find your local library here for the books you may need: https://www.careeronestop.org/LocalHelp/CommunityServices/find-libraries.aspx

The following is optional:
- Audio of Fannie Lou Hamer's Testimony for Fannie Lou Hamer's testimony at the 1964 Democratic Convention arguing for the seating of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party instead of the all-white regular Mississippi delegation.
