Join the On Earth Peace community as we prepare ourselves to respond to political violence and rising authoritarianism. On February 6 at 4 pm est, we will hold our second organizing meetup focused on political violence and authoritarianism. On Earth Peace is a Kingian Nonviolence organization that uses the values and strategies of nonviolence to support community initiatives on issues of violence and harm.  

Background: On Earth Peace is expanding our organizing capacity to help those in our constituency develop community, courage, capacity, and commitment, as the temperature of political rhetoric and attacks against different communities continues to rise.  We are part of a national organizing initiative called Harnessing Our Power to End Political Violence (HOPE-PV). More information here: www.endpoliticalviolence.org  The HOPE-PV campaign is looking to support communities as they develop  nonviolent direct action to prevent and respond to the political violence that will likely occur in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s re-ascension to the White House. 

Goals of the gathering: 

• Build community to help develop resilience instead of isolation by connecting with others who share your concerns
• Offer mutual updating about the reality our communities and country
• Learn about resources to help respond creatively to political violence and authoritarianism
• Identify next steps for your own local action

What to expect in the meeting: 

• Hear and share about what’s happening in the country - and in your area 
  • Hear about current hotspots and trends related to political violence in the country 
  • Update others about threats or acts of political violence in your area -- and organizing in response to them 

• Share resources and action tools with the community
  • Key resources we’re depending on or recommending right now 
  • Mutual support and resource sharing - what have you found most helpful to move your work forward? 
  • Share your needs: What do you need to take your own next step?
