2024-12-12 Political Violence Prevention and Response Organizing Meeting

We invite anyone in our constituency who wants to discuss the prevention of political violence in the wake of the recent election to join us for an organizing meetup on December 12.

Political violence takes many forms, and at its heart is the attempt to silence or disenfranchise others in the community. Do you want to discuss the prevention of political violence in the wake of the recent elections? Are you concerned about your safety or the safety of others in your community? Join us on December 12 for an organizing meeting with other OEP constituents to explore the Authoritarian Playbook and share our experiences and hopes.

Background: On Earth Peace is expanding our organizing capacity to help those in our constituency develop community, courage, capacity, and commitment, as the temperature of political rhetoric and attacks against different communities continues to rise. We are part of a national organizing initiative called Harnessing Our Power to End Political Violence (HOPE-PV). More information here: www.endpoliticalviolence.org The HOPE-PV campaign is looking to support communities as they develop nonviolent direct action to prevent and respond to the political violence that will likely occur in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s re-ascension to the White House.

What to expect in this meeting:

Make connections with others who seek to organize against political violence in their communities.
An overview of the signs of political violence and an exploration of the Horizon Project’s Authoritarian Playbook.
Discuss strategies to nonviolently combat the outbreak of political violence and how to protect those most vulnerable in our communities.
Share hopes, needs, and resources as we weave a mutual support community for these times.
