2011 Youth Peace Travel Team

Mark DowdyMark Dowdy

Greetings Brothers and Sisters! I am a proud member of the Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon, PA. However, I currently live in McPherson, KS working toward my bachelor's degree in Communication at good old McPherson College. (there is no "fear" in McPherson!) I am involved with Green Club, Student Government, Ultimate (that's right, no "frisbee"), and Theatre. My favorite shade is white, my favorite color is a deep, happy blue, and I really love to paint. It gives me a feeling of freedom as my thoughts and feelings are spilled out in color and space. There is so much I find out about God constantly; how mysterious and awe-inspiring he can be. I believe that we are all on a journey -together! It inspires me every day to keep working and making an effort to openly understand with my mere five senses! I have previously been a camp counselor at Camp Blue Diamond for three years and I am very very excited to take my experience and gifts on the road this year. I believe that peace cannot be achieved overnight, nor can it be achieved by one person. So, by being a part of this awesome peace team, I will be on the road, planting seeds of change in the amazing kids we meet to be our next generation of earth shakers. PEACE out!

Tyler Goss

Tyler GossWhy, hello there! I am from Mechanicsville, Virginia and I am a member of West Richmond Church of the Brethren. This fall, I will be a junior at Bridgewater College in Virginia, and I am majoring in Philosophy/Religion and Mathematics. What a blessing it is to share in continuing the work of Jesus by spreading and experiencing the lifestyle of peace! I like to think of this summer as a delicious cake, where the main cake is the message of peace and how sweet it can be, but that message of peace becomes truly flavorful with the fantastic icing of the many wonderful people I am sure to meet and the extraordinary discussion that is bound to occur. I cannot wait to have a peace!

Kay GuyerKay Guyer

Hey friends!  I grew up in Woodbury, Pennsylvania and now live in North Manchester, Indiana where I study art and peace studies at Manchester College.  Diving into the colorful possibility of nonviolence keeps my mind moving.  I love learning about peacemaking in community, and what better place to do this than at camp?  This is going to be one incredible summer!

Sarah NeherSarah Neher

Howdy! My name is Sarah Neher and I am ecstatic to be a member of the 2011 YPTT. I will be a senior at McPherson College, where I am majoring in Biology Education with an ESL certification. I grew up near Kansas City, Kansas, but currently live in Rochester, Minnesota. I attend the McPherson CoB. I love working with youth and spreading the word of peace. So the chance to fuse my passion for peace and social justice with my love for the outdoors will be unbelievable.
