Shalom: Christ's Way of Peace
The Hebrew word shalom conveys a rich vision far beyond the word peace, which is its most common English translation. It includes health, wholeness, right relations, justice and peace. The call to relationship and wholeness is deeply rooted in the fertile soil of scripture. It is an integral part of our faith story: the story of God's action in the world; of Jesus' life and ministry; and of the experience and testimony of the faith community. God doesn't require or even necessarily want us to "make a difference." God wants us to live in the difference Jesus' life example and teachings have already made.
A practical guide to the scriptural roots of reconciliation and peacemaking, this booklet offers theological grounding, inspiring examples, and concrete suggestions for reducing violence in our world. With questions for reflection and discussion, it serves well as a study guide for church school and other groups.
